Recently the LKA has made a charitable donation to our Zulu friends in South Africa. This came about after an old Leeds Karateka and good friend of Sensei’s Heald and Price, Charley Hesse contacted us. He said, that after many years roaming the world, he had settled in South Africa and opended a Karate Club in a Zulu village. The only problem was the villagers were so poor that they couldn’t afford to buy Gi’s.
Charley was heading home to Leeds for a family re-union and wondered if, by any chance, the LKA had any old Gi’s that they no longer wanted that he could take home. This was announced at the various classes and we were inundated with old Karate suits!
When Charley came to visit, he was thrilled at the number that were offered. He arranged to ship them back to South Africa and emailed us this week to show the before and after pics, which are shown below. We were thrilled to be able to help out these Zulu Warrior Karateka and look forward to hopefully meeting them one day too! All at the LKA wish Charley and his students the very best in their training.
