LKA's David Lister was part of the English Karate Federation Team which took part in the 44th annual Cadet & Junior European Championships which were held in Sofia, Bulgaria over the weekend of 17th-19th February 2017. It was a huge event with over 1,000 entries from 50 Countries, the largest in the history of the event.

David was competing in the Junior Male Kumite -68Kg event, which was his first as an England All-Styles International. 

Having beaten competitors from Azerbaijan and Portugal, David eventually went out to a Serbian, who himself made it to the Final.  This gave David a chance in the Repechage but he lost in this to a Danish competitor.  This gave David a very creditable 7th place finish in his first Europeans.  Hopefully the first of many to come.  The Junior World Championships are being held in Spain later this year so David will be aiming to be selected for that.
